Hobbies Are More Than Pastimes

We believe that creative pursuits shape who we are. They teach patience, build confidence, and offer a rare kind of satisfaction that's hard to find elsewhere. A well-crafted model, a hand-knitted jumper, a perfectly arranged miniature garden—these aren't just objects. They're expressions of dedication and personal growth.

That belief drives everything we do, from curating our product range to designing workshops that genuinely develop skills rather than just fill an afternoon.

Monthly craft swaps, quarterly exhibitions, and our annual Makers Festival bring together thousands of enthusiasts. Share techniques, find collaborators, or simply enjoy being surrounded by people who understand the joy of making.

"I walked in looking for embroidery thread and walked out enrolled in a course that completely changed my creative life. Three years later, I'm teaching my own workshops here."

Margaret H., Leicester Now leads our intermediate embroidery sessions

"My daughter's anxiety made group activities difficult. The small workshop sizes and patient instructors here gave her a space where she could learn at her own pace. She's now confident enough to attend the teen craft club every week."

Sarah K., Nottingham

Making Space for Making

Recent research confirms what crafters have always known: working with your hands reduces stress, improves focus, and creates a sense of achievement that's increasingly rare in our digital world. A 2024 study found that adults who engage in regular craft activities report 34% higher levels of life satisfaction.

But beyond the wellbeing benefits, there's something deeper happening. In an age of mass production and disposable goods, the act of creating something by hand—slowly, deliberately, imperfectly—is almost radical. It reconnects us with materials, with process, with patience.

Whether you're a seasoned maker or considering your first project, you're part of a growing movement of people choosing to create rather than consume.

Common Questions

Not at all. Most of our workshops are designed for complete beginners. Each listing clearly indicates the skill level required, and our taster sessions are specifically created for those who've never tried a particular craft before.

You take your work home with you, along with instructions for completing it. Many crafts require drying time or multiple sessions anyway—that's part of the process. Workshop alumni can also book studio time to use our facilities.

We offer dedicated youth workshops for ages 8-16, family sessions where adults and children work together, and teen-only craft clubs. Adult workshops are generally for those 18 and over, though some accept accompanied 16-17 year olds.

Yes. Our full product range is available for UK delivery. Orders over £45 ship free. We also offer a subscription service for consumables like paints, yarns, and adhesives—set your preferences and receive regular deliveries without needing to reorder.
